Hi, my name is Tim Kaelen and I'm a digital media artist working on a freelance basis, located in Antwerp, Belgium.

2D animations, video editing, and audio production are my main business. I'm specialised in HTML banners and other animated audiovisual content for display advertising and social media.

How it began

Ever since I was a little boy, I was amazed by multimedia. My very first animation was a balloon flying across the screen, programmed ON THE COMMODORE 64.
Since then, a lot has changed.
I already studied informatics in high school and eagerly learned multiple programming languages.
Eventually, I ventured further into into the audio-visual capabilities of computers when processors got stronger and stronger.

Working life

I started my professional career at the end of the nineties as a multimedia and software tester.

It was my dream to be working in the audiovisual sector. Eventually, I was leading large projects for big clients.
After three years I made the big step to Brussels and started working as a test consultant.
That did not last long.
As my hobby started to produce a higher income and I started to miss creativity in my day job, I started working full-time on my music projects. In the meantime, I also found a new hobby: Macromedia Flash and Photoshop.

Apart from producing our own music and playing live sets all over Europe, I went on to do a lot of graphic work and animations for different projects and really started loving it! I watched more and more and more tutorials and started leaving the beginner level.

Music is life itself.

Changes

A few more years further down the road, the music career started getting on the back burner. It was hard to get by as a small artist in a changing music landscape and I was eager to start a job with my new hobby.
I learned enough to enter the work market yet again with something I love doing and started a job as a Flash producer, programming websites and animating banners. I fell in love with animations and started using After Effects for animations and video editing and becoming an experienced animator.
